Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work at our headquarters in Annapolis, MD. The engineer will be responsible for developing security products while working in Agile development process. Qualified candidates will participate in the full software engineering life cycle development process.
Responsibilities and duties
- Qualified candidates will execute and monitor software builds and create installation kits per product release schedules
- The Engineer will extend the build environment to new products and operating systems and assist with program management tasks
- Assist quality assurance team by providing assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems
- Collaborate with quality assurance in creation of their test plans and participate in reviews
- Evaluate impact of software performance, and recommend changes to software design team and product management
- Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
- Assist in strategic research and design as directed
- Set up software configuration control and software development environments including program source control to ensure reliable backups and source code integrity
- Provide input to establish and improve processes and procedures
- Develop plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs and communicate plans and status to management and other development team members
- Escalate issues to management as appropriate
- Participate in design and code reviews with other developers
- Mentor, train, develop and serve as knowledge resource for less experienced Software Engineers
Requirements
- US Citizen with willingness and ability to be cleared if necessary
- 5+ years software development experience with strong working knowledge of C/C++ (Preferred), Java
- Knowledge of the SDLC
- Knowledge of encryption is desirable
- Experience with mobile platform development a plus
- Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems is required
- A Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent experience is preferred
- Ability to write, speak, brief at all client levels
- Ability to successfully manage schedules and timelines
- Ability to successfully mentor less experienced engineers towards achieving engineering excellence
